Charging Stations – SIQ Offers Full Support in Testing and Certification
The use and production of electric vehicles are growing steadily worldwide. SIQ is successfully following these trends as we are one of the few laboratories in the EU that have the capability to test AC and DC charging stations and can issue all the necessary documents to sell them on the global market without additional national verifications.
Electric vehicle charging is divided into AC charging and DC charging. AC charging at home or at work is limited to a maximum of 16-25 A per phase at the home connection, which represents approximately 3.6-5.8 kW/phase under ideal conditions. The first models were rated at 3.6 kW, while today the most common models are rated from 7.2 kW up to 22 kW, which is the upper limit. Typical DC chargers range from 50 kW to 200 kW and offer charging according to the two most widespread systems, i.e., CCS (Combined Charging System) and CHAdeMO (Japanese standard).
At SIQ, we have been actively working with electric vehicle manufacturers or their suppliers since 2009, obtaining the necessary accreditations and providing all the relevant equipment to test AC and DC charging stations according to the required standards in one place. Electrical safety is verified according to IEC 61851-1:2017 / EN IEC 61851-1:2019 and IEC 61851-23:2014 / EN 61851-23:2014. We test electromagnetic compatibility according to IEC 61851-21-2:2018.
We also perform all required environmental tests and EMC tests according to EMC standards for radio modules.
