Harmonisation of EN IEC 62368-1:2020

The Secretariat of CLC/TC 108X sent out an enquiry to National Committees to check and verify the acceptance of Amendment prEN IEC 62368-1:2019/prAB prepared by WG6 before its possible submission to the Enquiry.

The outcome was to recommend suspending the work on prEN IEC 62368-1:2019/prAB because it would not be possible to take all the comments from the HAS consultant on board.
Consequently, EN IEC 62368-1:2020 (3rd edition of IEC 62368-1) is unlikely to be offered in the OJEU for LVD (2014/35/EC) and/or RED (2014/53/EC).

In other words, it is very unlikely that EN IEC 62368-1:2020 which is based on IEC 62368-1:2018 (3rd Ed) will become a harmonised standard under LVD or RED. Currently, the only valid harmonised standard under LVD for ITAV products is EN 62368-1:2014 and it looks like it will stay like this for quite some time.
