IEC 61010-1 Amendment 2: Upcoming Changes to Safety Requirements
IEC 61010-1 is a vital safety standard for electrical equipment used in measurement, control, and laboratory applications. To address emerging risks and evolving technologies, the IEC Technical Committee 66 (IEC TC66) is preparing Amendment 2 to refine and enhance safety requirements.
The IEC TC66 has released a new version of the document, which is currently at the CDV (Committee Draft for Vote) stage. This means that further changes are still possible. Once the document reaches the FDIS (Final Draft International Standard) stage, no further technical modifications are expected.
Key updates in Amendment 2 will affect requirements related to insulation, components, functional safety, and risk management. The amendment also aims to better align IEC 61010-1 with other standards, such as IEC 62368-1.
SIQ is closely monitoring the progress of this amendment, as it could significantly influence testing procedures and compliance requirements for our clients.
