SIQ Expands IECEE CB Scope for High-Frequency Surgical Equipment
SIQ extended its IECEE CB scope for electrical equipment in the medical use (MED) category with the inclusion of the IEC 60601-2-2 standard, which covers high-frequency surgical equipment.
In November, we successfully expanded our scope within the IECEE CB scheme to encompass the specific standard IEC 60601-2-2, focusing on the particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of high-frequency surgical equipment and high-frequency surgical accessories.
This standard pertains to the basic safety and essential performance of high-frequency surgical equipment and high-frequency surgical accessories. High-frequency surgical equipment refers to medical electrical equipment that generates high-frequency currents for performing surgical tasks, such as cutting or coagulating biological tissue. High-frequency surgical accessories are intended to conduct, supplement, or monitor high-frequency energy applied to the patient by high-frequency surgical equipment.
