SIQ has extended its medical scope to electromyographs and evoked response equipment

SIQ is a partner-orientated institution that always listens to and responds to the needs of its partners.

We are proud to report that in August 2023, we successfully extended the IECEE CB scope of electrical equipment for medical use (MED) category with the IEC 60601-2-40 standard covering electromyographs and evoked response equipment.

This standard applies to the general requirements of electromyographs and evoked response equipment. An electromyograph is equipment for the detection or recording of biopotentials accompanying nerve and muscle action, either spontaneously, intentionally, or evoked by electrical or other stimulation. Evoked response equipment is equipment for the detection or recording of biopotentials resulting from an evoking stimulus, which can be electrical, tactile, auditory, visual olfactory, etc.
