ISO 45001 is the first ISO standard for occupational health and safety management systems. Occupational health and safety management system is a proactive process which offers set of requirements that allows organizations to identify and control its health and safety risks and opportunities, reduce the potential for incidents and non-conformity, help to achieve compliance with legislation, achieve defined goals and continually improve its performance.
The implementation of an occupational health and safety management system is a strategic decision for an organization. The success of the management system depends on:
- leadership,
- commitment and participation from all levels and functions of the organization and
- integration of the occupational health and safety management system into management system of the organization.
